11/05/2010 07:01 PM   Problems with someone over at deviantART
I know some of you have your own deviantART profiles, so perhaps you could help me figure out how to deal with a little problem I'm having.

Basically, I joined (or rather, I was asked) to join a group that I really wasn't that interested in.  Everything of mine that was in the group was because I was asked to put it there, not because I submitted it myself.

Anyways, the founder of this group replied to my latest journal entry there by basically telling me to start joining some of their projects.  I wasn't really interested, so I simply hid his reply.  It was full of broken english and hard to read anyways.  He replies to that by continuing to tell me to join their projects.  Finally I told him I just wasn't interested.  He then basically insults everything I've done so far.  I'd had it then, so I asked him to remove me and all my works from his group.  He proceeds to insult me again and then calls me an asshole.  I've since told him to remove me and my works from his group ASAP and to NOT contact me again.

My question is this: If he continues to harrass me, is there anything the deviantART staff can do to help me?

02/04/2010 08:40 AM   Improving Some Old 3D Renders - Part 1
I got looking at some of my older 3D renders and decided some of them needed to be improved.  Here's the first one:
Spoiler:

  Things to improve:
 • Lighting:  It's not bad, but it's not that good either.  The new lighting is much better.
 • Depth:  Look at that image again.  Notice that it looks kinda flat?  That's because there's no depth.  I've already fixed this.
 • Fog:  Originally, the fog was added in Photoshop after everything else was done.  I've got a much better method for making fog now, but it puts quite a strain on my laptop.  I'll have to wait until I know I won't need it for 2-3 hours, most likely when I go to bed.
I've got a few others I'm considering improving, but details on those can wait until I finish this one.

EDIT: This one's finished, see it here: http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthr...?tid=23009

01/04/2010 08:31 AM   April Fools? But I'm not laughing...
Turns out Zinga's name-changing prank isn't that bad....

Over at deviantArt, all avatars & signatures are now Twilight or Lady GaGa related...and a LOT of people, myself included, aren't happy about it.  I HATE Twilight more than anything, even more than Chode Messiah O_O

I know a number of other people here have dA accounts, so I'm wondering, are you as pissed off as I am about it?

13/03/2010 08:44 PM   MH3 Demo = WIN; GameStop = FAIL
So, I finally managed to get a copy of the Monster Hunter 3 demo a few days ago.  So, being one of EP's veteran Monster Hunters, here's what I think so far:

Weapons
*Gone are the Gunlances (cheap Lance imitation), Hunting Horns (pure FAIL), Dual Swords (awesome, but definitely overpowered) and Bows (decent, but no match for a Bowgun).
*Switch Axe = WIN.  An axe that turns into a sword?  And it's got an insane powered-up attack?  'Nuff Said.

Monsters
*Great Jaggi - Basically a replacement for the Velocidrome and other similar raptor bosses.
*Qurupeco - The Kut-Ku's replacement, but can be even more annoying if it calls in another boss monster.
*Rathian - yes, the Rathian is in the demo, but only if Qurupeco calls for it.  I haven't fought it too much on the demo, but from what I've seen, it's a lot more dangerous than it was in previous appearances.  Still working on killing it in the 20 minutes allowed.

Swimming
*Fighting monsters on land is cool, fighting monsters underwater should be even better!  The demo doesn't give you much to kill underwater, just some harmless crap...

Overall
*Demo is good, but now I have to wait about a month until the game's released...at least I'll stay entertained until then :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now then, on to the GameStop rant.  I've read on a number of Monster Hunter boards that many people are having trouble getting the FREE demo from GameStop, as a number of their employees are insisting that you MUST pre-order the game to receive the demo.  Capcom themselves have denounced these actions, stating the the demo is FREE and does not require a pre-order.

As for me, I had to go to two different GameStops to get mine.  At the first one, I asked if the demo was free, just to be sure that I wasn't accused of stealing or anything.  I'd already read on numerous sites that the demo was free.  That's when the guy running the store told me I had to pre-order to get the demo.  I told him about what I had read and that I knew I was right, to which he quickly replied "Well, we're right."  I really wanted to argue with him, but honestly, he wasn't worth the time or energy, so I left, and I'll probably never go to that one again.

So, I go to another GameStop right down the street.  I started talking with the guy in charge there and told him about what happened at the other GameStop.  I expected him to act like the first dude, but he nicely told me that they were free.  So I thanked him and left to slay some monsters.

Now for the worst part.  I've read on some of the monster hunter boards that some gamestop employees have admitted to knowing the demo was free, but were ordered by their district managers to give them out only with pre-orders so they make a profit.  That's just wrong.

Finally, for those who made it through this lengthy, sleep-inducing blog, I shall reward you with some humor:

Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, looking like a fool with your pants on the ground!

12/02/2010 10:16 AM   Welcome to Cyonix's Virtual World
Welcome to my virtual world.  A new identity also means that my blog got a complete reboot as well.

So, how did I come up with the name "Cyonix"?  This is how:

"Psionics", according to Wikipedia, is "the study and/or practice of using the mind to induce paranormal phenomena." In other words, psychic powers.  And I can't think of a single person who wouldn't want psychic powers.  So, change a few letters here, a few letters there, and "Psionics" becomes "Cyonix."

That's all for now.
